How does a trial lesson work?

You can take part in a trial lesson without obligation by making an appointment by telephone. The trial lesson costs €15.

You can then

  • register for a single class or as a series
  • buy a 3, 4 or 10 ticket or
  • buy a season ticket (weekly, monthly or quarterly).

How are the course ID-numbers constructed?

E.G. "FMC 23 2 1 3 1":

  • "FMC": The teacher abbreviation (Forbes Michael)
  • "23": The year 2023
  • "2": the quarter, i.e. the 2nd KVJ (April, May, June)
  • "1": The day of the week (Monday)
  • "3": The third course of the day
  • "1": takes place in room "1"

Course level

Level-1: Introduction

  • Level-1: (6 weeks or more) For beginners with no experience in Hatha Yoga.
Basic principles of posture and breathing are explained and practiced. The philosophical and cultural background and the aims of the practice are explained. For those who would like to get to know yoga.
  • Level-2: (approx. 6-8 months or more) For beginners with previous knowledge who have taken the introductory course or simply want to start developing important knowledge and skills straight away. Basic postures are internalized and refined, with an emphasis on standing postures, seated postures and forward bends. Reverse postures (shoulder stand in particular) are introduced.
  • Level-3: (Iyengar Yoga general practice I) (approx. 2 years or more) Strength and fitness in the standing cycle, safety in shoulder stand and plow are developed. Headstand and backbends are presented.
  • Level-4: (Iyengar Yoga general practice II) Regular, independent practicing at home is expected. Different focuses for teachers and long-term practitioners.

Special courses

REGENERATIVE

Still and mainly long asanas with an emphasis on inversion postures. Not suitable for beginners; seek advice if in doubt!

PRANAYAMA

Body and mind are attuned to the breathing and energy experience. The appropriate sitting posture is practiced. Refinement of natural inhalation and exhalation; training of the necessary mindfulness; Ujjayi, Viloma, Brahmari Pranayama etc. Only to be taken as a second course. Not suitable for beginners; ask for advice if in doubt!

YOGA SOFT

Normal exercise taking into account life and age-related limitations. The postures can support ageing in a powerful and balancing way.

YOGA FOR WOMEN

Normal exercise with special attention to the needs of women.

PREGNANT YOGA

The safe, mindful postures tailored to pregnancy are combined with the breath and convey calm, clarity and well-being.

MOTHER-BABY-YOGA

Around 8 weeks after giving birth, the woman can start practicing (adapted) exercises again. These are gentle postures that meet the need for postnatal recovery and restore stability and strength to the body. As long as the baby is not yet able to crawl dynamically, the "Mother-Baby-Yoga" course is suitable. A small group of women practise under guidance; the babies lie down and are (hopefully) happy.

YOGA FOR HEALTH PROBLEMS

If you have a number of health problems, you can join the normal class without any problems. Inform the teacher before a yoga class about any existing restrictions (neck pain, knee problems, back pain, menstruation etc.) and you will then be offered alternatives and assistance in the class if necessary; for more serious restrictions, injuries or illnesses you can arrange a private class (see below). The first step: a personal consultation (by telephone if necessary). We will clarify the route to be taken and arrange a (first) appointment.

PRIVATE LESSONS / INDIVIDUAL TUITION

The topics that are dealt with are completely tailored to the practitioner's needs, be it detailed corrections of "normal" postures or the creation of a home exercise program that takes into account specific problems or limitations that may receive too little attention in a normal exercise class. Dates and prices can be arranged in person or by telephone.

WHAT IS ONLINE TEACHING IN REAL TIME?

The lessons take place live with the teacher and together with other practitioners via the video conferencing software. We use "Zoom", a free app for Windows, iOS and Android. Installation on a laptop is ideal. However, a PC, tablet or smartphone can also be used.

HOW DO I REGISTER? HOW DO I PAY?

The link in the button above takes you directly to the "Zoom session" currently taking place.

Participation requires that you have also booked the lesson (e.g. with a 10-ticket, course series, time card). See the booking overview for more information.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PRACTICE ONLINE?

A little effort in the preparation helps to ensure success. Tidy up and provide a clean, inviting environment with good lighting and the recommended props. Instructions for the web device (laptop or similar) below.

AIDS (IMPROVISE IF NECESSARY)
  • Non-slip Mat
  • Belt
  • Blocks
  • 2-3 Yoga blankets (not too soft!)
  • preferably a yoga bolster ("large cushion") or other seat base
  • a free Wall, 1.5 or 2 meters
  • preferably one Folding yoga chairotherwise a sturdy, simple chair
  • preferably one Rope set(all aids are available from us in the store to acquire!)
WEB DEVICE AND STRUCTURE

Download the Zoom app to your device (laptop, tablet or smartphone). >>  https://zoom.us/download

Place the device across your mat, if possible 2-3 meters away, 50-60 cm above the floor.

Adjust the lighting. Avoid standing in front of a bright window, as the backlight is unfavorable for the camera and screen.

Sit quietly and prepare yourself inwardly for practicing.

Preparation for the TEACHING

Please connect 5 to 10 minutes before the start of the lesson to make contact and check the audio and video settings.

Finally, if everything is correct, check that your audio is set to "mute" (bottom left in the control bar). In Zoom, you can switch between "Gallery view" (everyone present) and "Speaker view" (only who is currently speaking). At the beginning, it is probably right to choose the gallery view to "look around" and get a feel for the community. When you start practicing, you can then switch to "speaker view" with the larger view of the teacher.

If you prefer, you can switch off your video so that you can continue to see the teacher, but he or she will not see you. You can switch your audio back on at any time to ask a question.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY / TERMS AND CONDITIONS / DATA PROTECTION

As in the normal courses, our general terms and conditions of participation and the provisions on data protection also apply to the online offers as far as reasonable. These can be viewed in full under the links below.

The most important aspects of classroom practice are repeated here:

Participation in all events is at your own risk. We are not medical practitioners. Our instruction, advice or recommendations do not supplant the advice of a person licensed to practice medicine under German law. In case of doubt, you should consult a doctor before starting a physical exercise program.

Health insurance subsidy

In the list on the left, some teachers have a " KK ", which stands for "health insurance subsidy possible". Please ask the individual teacher for details. The studio manages the booking and issues a receipt. The teacher manages the certificate of participation and other specific requirements of the health insurance companies themselves.
