„This course is a comprehensive and multi faceted course. Ameliorating that which hinders, distresses and binds us is what the applied art and science of yoga therapy is. The teacher learns not just what list of poses to give, but how to look into and understand that there are various presenting facets of the each individual obstacle that is linked to a core of causation and consequence. It is multifaceted in that the teacher learns to address a full range of the obstacles of distress and ill-ease that arise in their students; from the physical to the physiological to the neuro-psychological. It addresses both structure and function of the body and brings a parallel of the structure and function of asana as a healing mode. As the series is structured from the learning point of view, there it is a requirement to attend the course sequentially. This course is suitable for the situation where there is a number of already certified and experienced teachers wishing to attend the series.
Understanding From the Base
The purpose of these four day sessions is to link the teacher with ways to help the students attending their classes. In each session we undertake an in-depth study of the particular subject that four-day block. The teacher studies the dynamics, statics, co-ordinations and integrations of the asanas they teach their students – how the asana(s) interact with the whole student, as well as effect change in a part of the student. The first two days is the study and observation of the asanas and of the students performing, this leads onto an understanding of how to adjust, adapt, arrange and organise the asana(s) to bring benefit as well as knowledge to the student. These four day sessions are for the teacher, however the experienced and interested student can attend days 1 and 2 of any session.“
