Iyengar-Yoga-Munich.iYoga was founded as a studio by Michael Forbes in 1986 and has been offering Iyengar® Yoga classes at all levels ever since. Guest teacher workshops with leading international teachers, yoga teacher training, and our mail order Iyengar-yoga-props service are all part of the studio experience.
Margarete Eckl has been part of the team since 1997. Margareta and Michael are both "senior teachers", instructors, examiners and responsible members of the national Iyengar Yoga Association. Even after so many years, we remain involved in the further development of the Iyengar Yoga scene. We hope you will be curious and visit our studio soon.
With respect and love, M&M.
We see our studio as a professional institute that aims to bring the benefits of a solid yoga practice to as many people as possible. Margareta Eckl and Michael Forbes are among the leading Iyengar Yoga teachers in Europe. All our other teachers have undergone intensive training over many years. They are not yoga "trainers" but real teachers who also see themselves as learners. All of them are in constant contact with the further development of Iyengar Yoga in India, Europe and the USA. Newcomers are always welcome as participants (see the introductory series), and after this initial orientation many continue to practise regularly in the course. Advanced students will find challenging courses and seminars that will continue to support them for years and decades. Prospective yoga teachers are trained and supervised from their first beginnings to establishing themselves in the profession.
"Dear Michael, dear Margareta, today I would like to write you a short message to tell you how happy I am that I was able to get to know Iyengar Yoga through you (and Jessica, of course). I have been traveling a lot in the last few years to different places around the world, currently I am in Cape Town, and it is so beautiful how Iyengar Yoga travels with me like a piece of home. You can feel the connection that exists between all Iyengar Yoga teachers through the common teaching and the common connection to Pune. It is a familiar spirit that fills the room as soon as class begins, no matter where. Many thanks for your valuable work and best wishes to Munich"
"Good morning Margarete and Michael,
Last weekend I realized once again that it is a great gift to do the training with you both and to be able to benefit and learn from the quality of your teaching and knowledge. None of your lessons are the same and there is always a new impulse, hint, approach, focus ... that runs through the entire lesson. This variety, precision and richness are real "treasures" for my own learning and practicing. So, I finally had to say/write this to you. See you soon again in the treasure trove of asanas and instructions ..."
"Dear Mr. Forbes, the CD I recently bought from you is great. Thank you for the wonderful yoga class. If you record any more CDs or even have any, please keep me in mind."
"Dear Michael, thank you so much. By the way, on January 2nd I thought again: What a wonderful yoga teacher. You can say that from time to time. Your unsteady and terribly stiff, but loyal student."

In spring 2005, after 14 years in Maistraße, we took over a floor of the office building Waltherstraße 23, Rgb. (at Goetheplatz) with almost 600 m². Construction took 5 months and in September we practiced for the first time. First, all existing walls, ceilings and floors were removed from the former open-plan office. Special load-bearing partition walls and wall ropes for approx. 60 participants, comprehensive ventilation with heat exchangers, ceiling ropes for approx. 50 participants and bamboo parquet flooring in all rooms were installed. There is now also a spacious lounge area, a checkroom with lockers and a shower. Now, after almost 20 years here, we are happy to have made the investment in an optimal practice environment and invite all those interested in yoga to get to know the studio personally.
